3.2.7. A gear belt
THE GENERAL DATA

Removal of a gear belt of a drive (engines of 1.9 litres)

8. Square apertures of 10 mm
9, 10, 11. Adjusting bolts of the mechanism timing

13. A bolt of fixing of the mechanism of a tension

The gear belt puts in action a cam-shaft, the fuel pump and the water pump from a pulley коленвала. In case of rupture of a gear belt there can be an impact of pistons and valves that will lead to serious damage of the engine.

The gear belt should vary in the specified interval of time or earlier if on it engine oil has got.

After removal of a gear belt check up a condition of the water pump and its tightness (on smudges of a cooling liquid).

Removal

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Engines of 1.9 litres
1. Establish the mechanism timing and fix its cores or bolts. Disconnect the negative plug from the accumulator.
2. Remove the remained casings of a gear belt.
3. Remove the right suspension bracket of the power unit. Ослабьте a nut of a point of turn of the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt and a fixing bolt, then turn the tension mechanism counter-clockwise for removal of a tension of a belt and repeatedly tighten a fixing bolt. At possibility for turn of the mechanism of a tension use the unbent key of square section with the party of 10 mm.
4. Note an arrow a direction of rotation of a belt and remove a belt from pulleys.
Engines of 2.1 litres
5. Establish the mechanism timing and fix its cores or bolts. Disconnect the negative plug from the accumulator.
6. Remove the remained casings of a gear belt.
7. Ослабьте a lock nut of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension of the gear belt, located to the left of suspension bracket installation.
8. Using the unbent 5 mm a key inserted through an aperture in installation of a suspension bracket, ослабьте tightening a bolt () the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt (And – a lock nut).
9. Using 10 mm a key inserted through the same aperture (it is specified by an arrow), take away the tension mechanism, turning a shaft clockwise.
10. Note an arrow a direction of rotation of a belt and remove a belt from pulleys.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Check up a condition of a gear belt on deterioration, stratification and pollution by oil. Special attention turn on a radical part of teeths. In the presence of any defect it is necessary to replace a belt. In case of detection on a belt of traces of oil it is necessary to find a source of leak of oil and to eliminate it. Check up a condition of the mechanism of a tension and rotation of a single pulley which should rotate easily and in regular intervals.

Installation and tension

PERFORMANCE ORDER
Models of engines of 1.9 litres
1. Check up presence of fixing bolts and cores on the mechanism timing.
2. Establish a gear belt on a pulley коленвала, considering on earlier made label a direction of its rotation.
3. Establish a gear belt on pulleys in a following order:
      – A directing roller;
      – The fuel pump of a high pressure;
      – A cam-shaft;
      – The cooling pump.
4. At belt installation on a pulley of the fuel pump, establish it only on half of width and, after installation on a cam-shaft pulley, pull a belt over a pulley of the fuel pump.
5. Remove bolts of fixing from pulleys of a cam-shaft both the fuel pump and a core of fixing of a flywheel.
6. Ослабьте a nut of a point of turn and a bolt of adjustment of the mechanism of a tension and slowly release the mechanism of a tension before contact to a gear belt. Repeatedly tighten a bolt of regulation and a nut of a point of turn.
7. Turn коленвал on two complete revolutions in a working direction.
8. Ослабьте fastening of the mechanism of a tension and a nut of a point of turn that the tension mechanism has pulled a gear belt. Repeatedly tighten a bolt of regulation and a nut of a point of turn.
9. Check up that adjusting apertures on pulleys of a cam-shaft, the fuel pump and a flywheel are combined. Otherwise repeat installation of a gear belt.
10. The further installation is made in sequence of return to removal.
Models of engines of 2.1 litres
11. Check up presence of fixing bolts and cores on the mechanism timing.
12. Take away the mechanism of a tension of a gear belt and tighten a lock nut. At use of a key of 10 mm ослабьте the tension mechanism, turning it counter-clockwise.
13. Establish a gear belt on a pulley коленвала, considering on earlier made label a direction of its rotation.
14. Establish a gear belt on pulleys in a following order:
      – A directing roller;
      – The fuel pump of a high pressure;
      – A cam-shaft;
      – The pump of system of cooling;
      – A roller of the mechanism of a tension.
15. At belt installation on a pulley of the fuel pump establish it only on half of width and, after installation on a cam-shaft pulley, pull a belt over a pulley of the fuel pump.
16. Ослабьте a lock nut of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension that the tension mechanism has pulled a gear belt.
17. Remove bolts of fixing from pulleys of a cam-shaft both the fuel pump and a core of fixing of a flywheel.
18. Turn коленвал on two complete revolutions in a working direction.
19. Ослабьте a lock nut of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension, then turn коленвал on two complete revolutions.
20. Ослабьте a lock nut of a pulley of the mechanism of a tension that the tension mechanism has pulled a gear belt, and tighten a lock nut and tightening a bolt of the mechanism of a tension.
21. Check up that adjusting apertures on pulleys of a cam-shaft, the fuel pump and a flywheel are combined. Otherwise repeat installation of a gear belt.
22. The further installation is made in sequence, return to removal.
